The School Day
Reception, Year 1 and Year 2
School Starts: 8.40am
Home Time: 3.15pm
The classroom doors open at 8.40am and children should be in class and ready to learn by 8.50am when the school gates are closed and the registers are taken.
Parents must ensure that children arrive at school on time. Children need to be in their classrooms ready to start work from 8.50am. Being late can be upsetting for the children and we want everybody to have the best start for their day.
After 8.50am, parents will need to bring children to the School Office and they will be marked as late. If a child is brought into school after 8.50am, or is collected before 3.15pm, the parent/carer must sign the child in or out via our tablet in the Office so that we may monitor attendance accurately.
At the end of the day, parents are invited to wait outside their child’s classroom to collect the children when they are dismissed at 3.15pm by class teachers.
Break Times
There is a break during the morning session where all children are offered a piece of fruit as a snack. All children are asked to bring a water bottle into school. These are stored so children can access them at any time and should be taken home to be cleaned and refilled every day. Water bottles should contain water only and not juice or squash. It is important that the children stay hydrated during the day as this can have a huge impact on their learning.
Lunchtime and School Meals
Lunchtime is between 12.00pm and 1.00pm. All children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 are eligible for a free school meal. Menus are sent home for parents to help their children in selecting their meal choices. Our catering company Mellors serve the meals and the children eat together in the school hall. Lunchtime staff supervise and support the children throughout the lunchtime session.
Schools are legally required to provide meals that comply with the School Food Standards. These standards are intended to ensure that children get the nutrition they need across the whole school day. They govern all food and drink on offer within the school. We ensure that we cater for specialist diets including Halal and vegetarians and ask parents/carers to keep us informed of any dietary changes and allergies.

Nursery AM (Preschool) Timetable
08.30 - 08.50 - Children arrive - self-registration, free choice / outdoor play (tidy up at 08.50)
08.55 - 09.00 - Children to hang bags and coats and then sit on the grey carpet
09.00 - 09.20 - Wake up shake up, register, morning routine (how many children are here today, date and weather), Story of the Week
09.20 - 09.55 - Choosing time (getting granular - adult to explain the provision) and adult-led activities (tidy at 09.55)
10.00 - 10.15 - Phonics / story time / signing songs
10.15 - 10.30 - Wash hands, self serving snack time
10.30 - 11.00 - Outdoor provision
11.00 - 11.15 - What have we enjoyed about today? Helpful Hedgehog, Kind Koala and Learning Lion (on Friday)
11.15 - 11.25 - Getting ready for home time, singing songs - mindfulness yoga/dancing
11.25 - 11.30 - Home time

1.05 - 1.10 - Children to hang bags and coats and then sit on the grey carpet
1.20 - 1.55 - Choosing time and adult-led activities (tidy at 1.55)
2.00 - 2.15 - Story time / nursery rhymes
2.15 - 2.30 - Wash hands and have snack time
